The Board of Directors for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics has selected Professor Lorraine J. Weatherspoon, PhD, RDN, as the recipient of the 2017 Excellence in Practice – Dietetics Education Award. The award will be presented to Dr. Weatherspoon at the 2017 Food & Nutrition Conference & Expo in Chicago, Illinois, at the “Looking Forward: Nutrition Research Topics for the Second Century” session on Monday, October 23, 2017.
“The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics honors individuals who have advanced the dietetic profession, who have exhibited leadership, and have shown devotion to serving others in both dietetics and allied fields. These honors recognize outstanding food and nutrition practitioners and supporters of the profession — this includes awarding students with scholarships to continue their studies in nutrition and dietetics.
The Academy offers honors, awards and grants to recognize the diverse qualities of nutrition and dietetics professionals. Recognition is not limited to those who have held association offices — honorees include colleagues that advance the profession through research or government service, members who exhibit strong leadership qualities in other food/nutrition associations, and non-members who are awarded honorary membership as a result of their extraordinary contributions to nutrition and dietetics.”
