Nominations are now open for positions on the BFSAA Executive Committee. If you’re passionate about social justice, equity, advocacy, community building, programming, service, and improving the quality of the MSU experience this is your chance!

Here are the details:

  • Nomination Deadline: SUNDAY, APRIL 14, 2024 (UPDATED).
  • Term Duration: 2 years, starting July 1, 2024 – June 2026
  • Applicants must be paid members for this year.
  • All employee types are eligible to apply.

BFSAA is an organization that promotes an amicable, professional relationship between the Black faculty, staff, and administrators at Michigan State University and enhances the Black experience on campus as well as in the community at large. We aim to:

  1. Provide a collective voice on all matters relating to Blacks at Michigan State University.
  2. Increase the involvement of Blacks in all levels of University life.
  3. Demand accountability from those involved in the formation of policies that impact upon Blacks in the MSU community.
  4. Develop effective channels of communication to bring about better under- standing of the goals and objectives of equity and inclusion, and other articulated concerns as they relate to Blacks in the University community.
  5. Undertake a continuing plan to identify areas of need in program development and the recruitment of Black students, faculty, administrators and staff.
  6. Encourage the development of academic excellence among Black students.

As a member of the BFSAA Executive Committee, you’ll be involved in coordinating meetings and events, understanding the community interests and needs, working with university officials to address needs that impact students and employees, organizing the annual meeting.

You will upload a document or PDF that 1) briefly outlines relevant or related skills, knowledge, and experiences that speak to your leadership experience and 2) describes your interest in the office you seek and the goals you wish to accomplish in that office. The information should not exceed 800 words.
